LAMINATE SURFACED CASEWORK
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS
Description
A. Plastic laminate surfaced casework required for this work is scheduled on the drawing.
Quality Assurance:
A. It is the intent of this specification to establish minimum standards for materials, construction, workmanship and finished product of the work to be performed under this section. Casework specified herein refers to casework manufactured by
Casework Services Incorporated (CSI), Temple, Texas. Substitutions must be approved by the Architect prior to bid date, in accordance with the General Conditions Specifications.
B. If requested, bidders other than specified manufacturer shall submit a sample base cabinet showing full-scale joinery, general construction, materials and finish.
Submittals:
A. Submit shop drawings for all work furnished under this section. Drawings shall show size, arrangement, and type of materials, construction and relationship to adjacent work.
B. Upon completion of installation, and as a condition of its acceptance, submit copies of warranties, operating instruction and maintenance instructions, if applicable.
Product Installation:
Furnish, deliver and install all casework, countertops, fillers and accessory items indicated on the drawings or equipment schedule as part of this section.
Work by Other Trades:
A. Furnishing, installation and connection of all piping, wiring, conduit. Junction boxes and related items required to provide services from building rough in to service fixtures within casework and equipment. Sinks and service fixtures other than those scheduled as part of Science Casework unless specifically indicated as work to be supplied under this section.
B. Furnishing, installation and connection of traps, drain-lines and vents, including required supports, straps and hangers.
C. Furnishing and installation of wood blocking, framing or reinforcement within building walls to adequately support casework.
D. Furnishing and installation of rubber, vinyl or other special base.
Execution
Surface Conditions:
A. Prior to installation, verify that all painting, wet work, grinding, overhead work such as ceiling grids and similar operations are completed. The casework is a finished product and there should be sufficient light so that it can be installed and meet inspection requirement. The ambient relative humidity should be maintained between 25% and 55% prior to delivery and through the life of the installation. Should there be a discrepancy, the Architect should be advised and the matter resolved before proceeding.
B. In the event of a discrepancy, do not proceed with installation until such discrepancy has been resolved.
Installation:
A. Installation shall be performed by manufacturer’s authorized representatives unless otherwise designated by contract documents. Installation work shall conform to manufacturer’s standard procedures. Casework and equipment is to be set accurately in place, scribed and permanently secured to the building walls and/or floors.
B. Verify that all equipment is properly installed and operational. All debris resulting from this installation shall be removed and casework interiors and exteriors cleaned at completion of installation.
